Hooded Chair

Hooded Chair

The porter’s chair dates back to 16th century France. These chairs were commonly used for protection from the draughts
when the gatekeeper of a well-to-do family would would sit at the front of the home and screen guests or visitors upon arrival.

These days, one can find porter’s chair at flea market or antique gallery; and you can use any kind of materials to reupholster the chair.
Placing porter’s chair at the foyer or sitting room would create a dramatic statement.

Below picture shows glam upholstered chair from Christopher Guy, one of our favourite furniture designer.
